I wanted to tell him all my secrets, but he became one of them instead.
Chloe Rivers never thought she would keep secrets from her best friend. Then again, she never imagined she would fall in love with him either. When she finally reveals her feelings, rejection shatters her, rendering her vulnerable and sending her straight into the destructive arms of the wrong guy.

Gavin Rhodes never saw the betrayal coming. It crushes him. Chloe has always been his forbidden fantasy–sweet, tempting, and beautiful. But when the opportunity finally presents itself, he makes the biggest mistake of all and denies her.

Now it’s too late . . .

Four years after a devastating tragedy, Chloe and Gavin’s world’s collide and they find their lives entangling once again. Haunted by the past, they are forced to come to terms with all that has transpired to find the peace they deserve. Except they can’t seem to get near each other without combatting an intense emotional connection that brings them right back to where it all started . . . their childhood treehouse.

Chloe still holds her secrets close, but this time she isn’t the only one with something to hide. Can their deep-rooted connection survive the destruction of innocence?

You guys! Up in the Tree House was delightful! I’m usually hesitant to pick up NA books, as I tend to shake my head at the miscommunications and misunderstandings of 20 somethings who aren’t sure of themselves, yet I still get nostalgic to read about first love and all the joy and pain that accompanies it. I remember those times vividly and with this author’s writing style, I could “see” it playing out as well.

This book was filled with angst and love and heartbreak and passion and miscommunication and utter destruction yet I remained hopeful throughout the novel that Chloe and Gavin would find their way back to each other. They were childhood besties who were closer than close yet circumstances kept them apart. What happens when they go through some unspeakable losses and are thrown back together years later?

Gavin and Chloe’s story broke my heart, and I teared up a time or two when they had to relive the painful memories, but when things were good they were so good and my heart was bursting with joy during those moments. Just when you think everything is going to be smooth sailing for these two …  another blast from the past is thrown at them and more angst ensues! Don’t fear, though, because there are some seriously swoon worthy sexy scenes in this book, and you’ll be happy to know Ms. Allen does not fade to black!

All in all, I’m a sucker for a good second chance romance, and I won’t soon forget Chloe and Gavin’s beautiful story. If you want to get swept up into those wondrous accoutrements of first love, angst, heartbreak, pain, loss, and second chances, this is the book for you!

Finally, the reason I’m giving this novel four stars instead of five is because as much as I loved so many parts of the story, I can only handle so much angst but I know so many of you out there love it! So go 1-click this book and enjoy every angsty wonderful bit of it!
