Addiction: the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming.
Ruby was sin and sex.
The ultimate indulgence and worth every penny she cost me. I paid for her body, but didn’t know she’d end up embedded in my soul.
Elias was dark and tempting.
Unmatched in intensity and passion compared to my other clients. He handed me cash in exchange for my touch, and he dug himself into my heart instead.
Money changes things, firms up the lines of a relationship. But when it becomes an addiction—an all-consuming, life-changing addiction—the lines are completely obliterated.

I laughed under my breath before stepping forward and punching the emergency stop button on the elevator.
“What are you doing?” she asked, her eyes wide in her face. Her pale face. Ever since that douche stepped into her space, all the color had been sucked from her skin.
Which is how I knew she was fucking lying to me.
No former client would have given her that kind of reaction. That guy knew her. And not just biblically, but definitely that too, given the crazy-ass gleam in his eyes when he looked at her.
When I didn’t answer right away, she fidgeted, crossing her arms over her stomach and then letting them drop again. Then she swept a hand through her hair, making sure the curls were still laying over one shoulder.
“Beck and call, right?” I rasped out, leaning my shoulder against the wall of the elevator.
“You. You’re at my beck and call for these thirty days, right? This being day one.”
She mimicked me, leaning her shoulder against the opposite wall, essentially facing off with me in the small space. “That’s right. Do we need to discuss this now?”
There was a slight edge to her voice that I’d never heard before, and I wasn’t ashamed in the slightest to say that it hardened me even further. “Why not?”
“Because I prefer not to have business discussions when I’m in a box that’s suspended sixteen floors above the ground.”
“We’re not going to have a discussion.” I straightened, undoing my belt. Her eyes tracked the slow movements of my hands.
“I’m not having sex in this elevator.”
“No, you’re not.” I raised one eyebrow, and lifted my chin at her. “You’re going to get on your knees for me. I want to know what your lipstick looks like on my dick.”
Alex Lucian is an author living on the eastern coast of the United States who appreciates being anonymous, for personal and professional reasons. Tempting is Alex’s first novel.
I’m always intrigued by the titles of this series and how they factor into each book. Confession: I spend a ridiculous amount of time analyzing them. Addicted. That title tells me everything about the intensity and passion of the story and I couldn’t wait to dive in.
Ruby is an escort hired by Elias, who prefers his sex to be bought and paid for. There’s a reason for that, but I’m not telling. He gets a lot more than he bargained for with Ruby. Once he has a taste of her, literally, he needs more and more. Not only is she a sex goddess, Ruby is the triple threat: charming, intelligent, and beautiful. I fell in love with her instantly. She’s not used to becoming emotionally attached to a client, but Elias is hard to resist.
I knew Elias was dark and brooding from his appearances in Tempting and Provocative, and honestly, when I met him in those books, I thought he was a little mean. Gasp. I was so wrong about him. He said something to Ruby in Addicted that made me think. He said a lot of things that made me think, actually. But this… to paraphrase, he said a photo, or a video, should tell a story. The photograph should tell the viewer everything. Let’s test that…
Yep. Do you see it?? This tells me Elias is too sexy to bother with a shirt! And he was! Don’t let that picture on the cover of Addicted fool you. Elias, oh man. What a character. Yes, he’s alpha, but he liked her brain. Her BRAIN. Imagine that. He found her intelligence sexy. Be still my heart. Elias’s sexy meter shot through the roof! Not only did her body turn him on, her mind did. Now I was addicted to him!
Their arrangement turns into a lot more than sex. And whoa, the sex. Addicted may be the hottest book Alex Lucian has written. Scratch that. It is.
Obviously this can’t be a smooth ride to love, because as readers we seem to want the happily ever, but apparently we want them to struggle to get there. We’re sadists. Why is that? Thanks a lot me and YOU. Ruby and Elias have some hard truths to face about themselves, and watching them stumble into love was… hm, should I? Okay, yes, it was ADDICTING!
The way this story unfolded had me completely mesmerized. There were a lot of thought provoking “Ah” moments. And the scenery needs an honorable mention. I felt like I was on a tour of Amsterdam with them and those were my feet standing in the church. The writing was so descriptive, I felt as though the voice in my head should be reading in a hushed tone.
Addicted was a perfect 5 star read with seamless writing and enough heat to rival Hell. I doubted Elias going into Addicted, but Alex Lucian made me a believer. Ruby would be proud.
